Frederic-- I had the run of my life!! Yes, I
really mean that. Look at my time from last year!
Since August, I have trained harder with this
specific run in mind. Uphill in the Magdalenas--
just me and the family dog--every Saturday through
sun, wind, and rain. I told myself to come out
faster and to just believe in myself more. The last
two miles through technicolor aspen were
overwhelmingly beautiful and it brought tears to my
eyes. I love this race! And I had family and friends
there to greet me. (I was only 3 minutes behind my
husband).
Thanks for having this gorgeous run-- all the beauty
of a trail run without having to watch your feet.
See you next year.

Frederic,
I really enjoyed you run on Saturday. You suggested
that we share any of our thoughts/ideas about the
run. Here are my thoughts:
· A special award (bear) should be given to the 71
year old runner. Not only is he an inspiration, but
he finished the race with a very competitive time. I
hope that I am running the roads of NM when I am his
age.
· It was very “classy” to have a sit down Friday
night pasta meal. Really made us feel special.
Proving us with a lunch after the run also was
special.
· As I was huffing and puffing on my way up the road
I missed some of the mile markers. It would be
helpful to have them on the road.
· It might help your registration if you could get
the mailing list for the La Luz run and the Imogene
Pass Run.
· It sure was nice to have a motel that was
reasonable and which allowed us with a checkout time
of 1 pm, so you could take a shower.
Keep up the great work. I’ll be back next year
(barring injury or lack of training). Take care, Ben

Fred,
Wanted to let you know that your race-the Ski Road
Challenge is my top running experience!! I am a
veteran of several Boston and New York City
Marathons along with several other races thru out
the United States-I am a very experienced runner and
your race reminded me of the innocence and purity of
the sport of running!! Your event was spectacular
and the best! The challenge, scenery, food, support
and whole experience was an event of a lifetime!!
Your race should be featured in a running magazine
along with Ruidoso as a top running event in the
United States. I would say that the run up the side
the mountain was a healing experience for me and the
others that completed the event. As you make your
way up the mountain, it is so quiet, beautiful and
peaceful that you and others around you reflect upon
what really matters in life and returns you to that
place of running and innocence as the first day we
put on our running shoes and we were hooked for life
on running. Again, thank you for one of the most
wonderful experiences of my life-Ski Road Challenge,
Ruidoso, NM.
